Yeng Constantino asks forgiveness, writes song ‘Kumapit’ for medical frontliners

Singer and composer Yeng Constantino created a new song “Kumapit” for medical frontliners doing their duty amid the COVID-19 threat.

On Instagram on Thursday, Yeng shared her song titled “Kumapit” which she dedicated to doctors, nurses and everyone in the medical field.

In the caption, Yeng admitted that at first, she was hesitant to make the song due to embarrassment because of what happened last year between her and a doctor in Siargao.

“Nakatanggap po ako ng mensahe sa aming Viber group na may doctor po na humihingi ng encouragement videos sa aming mga artists… dahil marami daw po ang bumababa na ang loob dahil sa sobrang hirap ng sitwasyon natin ngayon at sa mga hospitals. Gustong gusto ko pong gumawa ng video pero sa totoo lang po nahihiya ako dahil baka imbes na ma-encourage ko po kayo eh mainis kayo sa ‘kin dahil sa mistake na nagawa ko last year. Parang may digmaan sa kalooban ko dahil gusto ko pong mag-send ng video message pero baka ‘di naman po makatulong,” Yeng said who apologized for those she hurt in the medical field.

In January 2020, the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Dapa, Surigao del Norte, issued a warrant of arrest for celebrity singer-vlogger related to a cyber libel case filed against her in 2019.

Constantino was accused of “doctor shaming” in July 2019 after she posted on her vlog about her husband’s accident after cliff-diving in Siargao’s Sugba Lagoon.

She showed on her vlog how her husband Yan had memory loss after the accident and how they were referred to Del Carmen Hospital for initial emergency care. But when they arrived at the hospital, they were told to go to Dapa Siargao Hospital since Del Carmen lacks equipment.

Yeng then criticized one of the doctors at Dapa Siargao Hospital, Esterlina Tan, saying she did not show urgency in treating her husband. She also said the doctor did not update her on Yan’s condition.

According to Yeng because of what is happening today, she has created a song that aims to inspire everyone to just go on with life and not give up.
