A Filipino-American actress — best known for playing super-heroine Darna — has been voted as having the world’s most beautiful face.
Liza Soberano topped the list of 100 beauties compiled by a group of movie critics who have been compiling the annual list since 1990.
Soberano polled ahead of some well-known celebrities, including Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (27th), Australian actress Margot Robbie (33rd) and singer Selena Gomez (56th).
Taking second and third place were French model and actress Thylane Blonde and Taiwanese singer Tzuyu.
Soberano is currently among the most popular stars in the Philippines for being the latest actress to take on the role of Filipino super-heroine Darna.
Other Filipinas on the list were Kathryn Bernardo (60th), Jessy Mendiola (71st), Nadine Lustre (78th) and Kim Domingo (96th).
Soberano has featured on the list in previous years, taking sixth in 2015 and second last year. In 2016 the list was topped by British fashion model and actress Jourdan Dunn. Other previous winners include French actress Marion Cotillard and American actress Camila Belle.
In the men’s section — for the most ‘handsome’ face of the year — Korean pop artist V came out on top, followed by Australian actor Jason Momoa and US Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer. In fourth place was Filipino-Australian singer and actor James Reid.
US singer Charlie Puth (24th), retired footballer David Beckham (26th) and High School Musical actor Zac Efron (32th) also featured on the list.
The Independent Critics, which was founded by UK film reviewer TC Candler, say that the criteria for the perfect face is more than just “aesthetic perfection”. According to the organisation’s website, it’s also about “grace, elegance, originality, daring, passion, class, poise, joy, promise, hope… they are all embodied in a beautiful face.”
The group also seeks to define “global beauty” as epitomised by a list of people representing at least 40 countries.
