Woman had partner arrested for stealing cash aid; suspect caught in drinking

A woman in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, had her live-in partner arrested for stealing the cash aid the received from the government’s social amelioration program.

The government provides cash aid for low-income families suffering from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.

According to the woman, her 47-year-old partner stole P6,500 in financial assistance. Authorities found the suspect drinking in Barangay Calaocan.

Unfortunately, the man had just returned P3,000 from the cash aid.

He was charged with violating the liquor ban. The shop where he bought liquor was also warned.

Meanwhile, in Bongabon, also in Nueva Ecija, 16 were arrested after allegedly gambling and drinking despite existing lockdowns throughout Luzon.

The police arrested them for illegal gambling and violating the liquor ban. The 16 residents will undergo a seminar on how COVID-19 spreads.

3 suspects involved in gun-for-hire, drugs, dead in Taguig encounter

Three men have been involved in various crimes were killed after a shooting encounter with the police in Taguig City on Wednesday.

According to the report of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the suspects were identified as Adam Chiongbian, Ronaldo Villanueva, and Edward Galleposo.

According to police, Chiongbian and Villanueva were members of the gun-for-hire group while Galleposo was involved in carnapping and drug peddling incidents. Chiongbian has since been arrested on drug charges.

Police received information about an armed group in Barangay Ibayo Tipas, so they went to the area for verification, according to the NCRPO.

When authorities arrived, the three suspects ran into a house, and the police chased them.

The suspects began shooting and exchanged gunfires with the police, which killed the suspects, NCRPO said.

The police recovered a grenade and a variety of weapons from the suspects.

“The presence of this notorious gang is a threat to the safety and security of the community, especially in this trying times,” said NCRPO chief Police Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
