Woman gives birth on side of road in Northern Samar

A woman gave birth on the road at 5:30 a.m. Sunday in barangay Cagamutan Gamay, Northern Samar.

According to Gamay Police, a concerned citizen went to the police station to ask for help to take a woman lying on the road to the hospital.

The personnel of the said station and some personnel of the Rural Health Unit immediately went to it.

Upon their arrival at the scene, they found that the lady lying on the road was about to give birth.

Police Corporal Marjorie Dy, a police nurse, immediately approached her to help get the healthy boy out safely.

After a successful delivery, they rushed her to the nearest clinic for a doctor to check on their condition.

The mother and son are currently in good condition.

Early this month, a pregnant woman in Quezon City gave birth on a tricycle while waiting for the result of her swab test, which is a requirement for admission to the .

The woman was able to take a swab test, but while waiting for the result on the tricycle, her water broke, so the swab test takers and contact tracers came out because the child’s head allegedly came out.

The child was successfully taken out.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said the hospital should not be blamed if it refuses because there is no swab test.

Before the incident, a woman also gave birth in the vehicle of the Quezon City Task Force Disiplina after being refused admission by a hospital.

In June, A pregnant woman was forced to give birth outside a hospital in Sta. Maria Bulacan, after she was not admitted to the hospital due to the lack of a swab test.

Despite giving birth outside the hospital, the mother and her baby are said to be good.

According to the report, based on the Department of Health Policy, a swab test result is included in the requirement for pregnant women before giving birth.

But President Rodrigo Duterte said that hospitals should accept all patients.
