Woman gives birth in a bus after being rejected by hospital

A pregnant woman gave birth on the bus after being allegedly rejected by a hospital in Davao Del Sur because they could not pay a downpayment.

Last Monday night, the woman gave birth to a baby girl safely inside the Mindanao star passenger bus in Kinuskusan, Bansalan town.

According to Police Community Affairs and Development Group XI, personnel of the 2nd Davao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company (DSPMFC) Police Cpl. Roy Rojaz and Sgt. Edclaier Sotela of the 39th Infantry Batallion Philippine Army helped 23-year-old Grace Bulaw Cudog give birth.

Police and soldiers responded to the bus conductor and driver’s request for help in giving birth to the pregnant woman.

They also took the woman and baby in a police patrol car and immediately took them to Makilala Hospital in Makilala, Cotabato, to get medical attention.

It was found out from her partner Jemar Muting that they had gone to a hospital earlier, but he allegedly refused them due to the lack of downpayment, so they decided to go home, but Grace had to give birth on the bus.


MRT-3, LRT-2 give free rides on December 30

Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will provide limited free rides on Thursday, in conjunction with the Rizal Day celebration.

“May handog na libreng sakay ang pamunuan ng MRT-3 sa mga pasahero nito sa darating na Rizal Day, ika-30 ng Disyembre 2021, mula 7:00 AM hanggang 9:00 AM, at mula 5:00 PM hanggang 7:00 PM,” said Department of Transportation-MRT-3, Tuesday.

“Ang libreng sakay ay bilang pakikiisa ng pamunuan ng MRT-3 sa paggunita at pag-alala ng buong bansa sa kabayanihan ni Gat Jose Rizal.”

“Upang mapanatiling ligtas ang biyahe ng mga pasahero, mahigpit pa ring ipinatutupad ang COVID-19 health and safety protocols sa buong linya, gaya ng pagbabawal kumain, uminom, makipag-usap sa telepono, at magsalita sa loob ng mga tren,” MRT said.

LRT-2 made the same statement earlier, but it will only grant the privilege for a shorter period of time between 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. – the same day, according to the Light Rail Transit Authority.
