Woman gives birth at vaccination facility in Makati

A woman did not reach the hospital and gave birth at a vaccination facility in Makati City on Monday, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old woman gave birth at the vaccination facility at MMDA main headquarters after she was taken there by a tricycle driver who fathered the baby around 5:27 p.m. to ask for help.

While waiting for the ambulance, the vaccination team prepared a makeshift delivery table. Fourteen minutes later, the woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

The mother and the baby are in good condition, according to the MMDA. They were later taken to a nearby hospital.

The baby’s father said he took his wife to a lying-in clinic near Guadalupe Church, but it was closed.

They went to the nearby barangay hall of Guadalupe Nuevo, where they were asked to wait first. It was here that he decided to go to MMDA.

MMDA chairperson Benhur Abalos praised the vaccination team for helping the lady.

According to the MMDA, most of those who assisted in the delivery of the woman were part of their Road Emergency Group.

Woman gives birth at vaccination facility in Makati

Last month, a woman gave on the road in barangay Cagamutan Gamay, Northern Samar.

According to Gamay Police, a concerned citizen went to the police station to ask for help to take a woman lying on the road to the hospital.

The personnel of the said station and some personnel of the Rural Health Unit immediately went to it.

In June, A pregnant woman was forced to give  outside a hospital in Sta. Maria Bulacan, after she was not admitted to the hospital due to the lack of a swab test.

Despite giving  outside the hospital, the mother and her baby are said to be good.

According to the report, based on the Department of Health Policy, a swab test result is included in the requirement for pregnant women before giving birth.

But President Rodrigo Duterte said that hospitals should accept all patients.
