Woman arrested for pretending to be NHA employee

A woman was arrested in Antipolo City after she allegedly pretended to be an employee of the National Housing Authority (NHA) and demanded money from the victims in exchange for 100 percent approval of the housing loan.

In a report by Emil Sumangil on GMA News “Unang Balita” on Thursday, the suspect was identified as Norma Camacho, 54, a staff member of the social welfare office of Antipolo City hall.

Footage by the Antipolo Police shows the entrapment operation at a restaurant in the city where Camacho agreed to meet with the complainant who allegedly demanded money.

When Camacho took the money, the police arrested him.

The city hall confirmed that Camacho is their employee but said that her transaction with the housing program and her bearing in the name of the NHA are not legitimate.

The suspect denied the allegation and insisted that she did not identify herself as an NHA employee.

Last month, NHA warned beneficiaries who  out government .

NHA general manager Marcelino Escalada said they are pushing for an amendment to their charter to disqualify and replace anyone caught earning from their socialized housing unit.
