A 45-year-old Filipina widow who was at the airport to pick up the remains of her husband, was arrested for a bullet in her bag at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Friday.
Nelda Cacay was arrested after security stopped her at the airport’s arrival entrance X-ray when they claimed to spot a suspicious object in her bag.
Officials say they asked Cacay to remove the object from her bag, confirming that it was a bullet.
Cacay was at the airport to fetch her late husband’s remains which had arrived from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
She was then turned over to Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group for investigation.
The widow apparently admitted that she used the bullet and a crocodile fang as a talismans (an item to bring good luck).
The airport police released Cacay. Airport security are adamant that many people are caught using bullets as amulets.
