NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar personally woke up three sleeping cops on duty during his surprise inspections at Southern Police District (SPD), Las Piñas City, early morning of Monday.
Eleazar caught two mobile patrol officers Police Corporal Eugine Ybasco and Police Corporal Jayson Monsales snoozing while their mobile was on standby along Alabang Zapote Road in Pamplona Dos.
The video showed Eleazar scolding one of the patrol officers sleeping inside a parked tricycle.
The NCRPO director also spotted desk officer and Police Staff Sergeant Danny Cerbito sleeping while on duty at Police Community Precinct 2, Las Piñas City. Eleazar waited for a few seconds before waking up Cerbito by slamming his desk.
The chief said the police officers were already disarmed and relieved from their posts.
“Yes, transferred na sa (they were already transferred to the) Regional Headquarters Support Unit (RHSU),” Eleazar told INQUIRER.net.
The policemen may also face administrative charges for neglecting their duty.
Last year, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde urged the public to report police officers who are sleeping on the job.
