The Guinness world record for the most burgers eaten in one minute has been claimed by a Filipino.
Zark’s burgers in Pasay City, Manila, was the scene of the virtuoso display of competitive gluttony.
After a tense round of knockouts, Kelvin “Zarkman” Medina and Ricardo “Rix Terabite” Francisco went head to head to scoff their way to glory.
Rix Terabite, aged 24, proved he was the hungriest for the record and managed to consume a record-breaking five 107-gram patties in 60 seconds.
Asked how he felt after the attempt, he said: “Still hungry”.
Although Zarkman missed out on a title, he still holds the world record for the fastest time to devour a 12-inch pizza.
Formerly, the record for most burgers eaten in a minute was held by Peter Czerwinski, aka “Furious Pete”, who wolfed down four burgers.
The Guinness World Records rules for the burger eating challenge insist that only one burger is eaten at a time, using just one hand.
Participants are allowed to put just one condiment on their burgers and have a glass of water in their other hand – but no dunking is permitted.
The record for the most burgers eating in three minutes is held by Japan’s Takeru Kobayashi, who set the benchmark at 12.
