WATCH: Apprehended driver tries to run over traffic enforcer

An apprehended driver who tried to run over a traffic enforcer was caught on video and started going viral on Facebook.

According to traffic enforcer Alfredo Salvo Jr., he asked the Hyundai Elantra with AFA 9757 plate on Wilson Street to pull over as it entered a one-way street.

However, the car did not stop and drove off instead. Salvo then ran after the car.

When Salvo went in front of the car to stop it, the driver still went straight ahead. This prompted Salvo to climb on top of the car’s hood.

Barangay Sta. Lucia Kagawad Raymund Silva responded to the scene and saw the car blocking the road while the enforcer was on the vehicle’s hood.

The traffic enforcer asked for a license, but the driver failed to show any.

The driver of the car has been locked up at the San Juan police office and is set to undergo inquest proceedings today.

In September, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia, said some traffic violators are no longer scared of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcers.

Some are even bold enough to injure traffic enforcers while they were on duty and doing their jobs.

“Wala kaming baril ‘di takot sa amin e [We don’t have guns, traffic violators are not scared of us. Last year, nabalitaan niyo ginulpi yung enforcer namin [Just last year, one of our traffic enforcers was even mauled.]” Garcia said.
