Local government units announce class suspension due to possible heavy rains brought by tropical depression “Jenny” as it moves westward as of 4:00 am today.

Here are the cities and provinces which announced the cancellation of classes on public and private school on areas affected by typhoon “Jenny”:

  • Pangasinan – preschool to senior high school
  • Baguio City – preschool
  • Cavite – all levels
  • Almeria, Biliran – all levels
  • Biliran, Biliran – all levels
  • Cabucgayan, Biliran – all levels
  • Caibiran, Biliran – all levels
  • Culaba, Biliran – all levels
  • Kawayan, Biliran – all levels
  • Naval, Biliran – all levels
  • San Jose City, Nueva Ecija- pre-school
  • Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija- pre-school to high school

Tropical Depression Jenny Storm Signal Update

PAG-ASA raises public storm warning signal number one (1) to 15 provinces:

  • Cagayan
  • Isabela
  • Quirino
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Apayao, Abra
  • Kalinga
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • Benguet Aurora
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Eastern portion of Pangasinan
  • Northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Island
  • Catanduanes

DepEd Guidelines Class Suspension

Department of Education reiterates guidelines in the suspension and cancellation of classes in Do 43, S. 2012 – Guidelines On The Implementation Of Executive Order No. 66 (Prescribing Rules On The Cancellation Or Suspension Of Classes And Work In Government Offices Due To Typhoons, Flooding, Other Weather Disturbances, And Calamities).


Automatic Classes Suspension

  • Signal No. 1 is raised by PAGASA, public, and private preschool and kindergarten
  • Signal No. 2 is raised by PAGASA, public and private preschool, kindergarten, elementary and secondary classes
  • Signal No. 3 is raised by PAGASA, work in all DepEd offices in the affected areas shall be automatically canceled or suspended. Depending on signal numbers declared at 10:00 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. of the following day, classes inappropriate levels for the whole day are deemed automatically canceled/suspended.

Localized Cancellation/Suspension of Classes and Work

In the absence of typhoon signal warnings from PAGASA, localized cancellation/suspension of classes in both public and private schools and work in government offices may be implemented by local chief executives in their capacity as chairpersons of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (LDRRMC).
