VP Robredo mourns death of Noynoy Aquino

Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday said the death of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is heartbreaking.

“Nakakadurog ng puso ang balitang wala na si PNoy. Mabuti siyang kaibigan at tapat na Pangulo [His death is heartbreaking. He is a good friend and an honest President],” Robredo said in a statement.

“Nakikiramay ako sa kanyang pamilya [I mourn with his family],” she added.

“He tried to do what was right, even when it was not popular. Tahimik at walang pagod siyang nagtrabaho para makatulong sa marami [He is a quiet, tireless worker, and would work to help a lot of people],” she said.

“He will be missed,” she added.

Noynoy Aquino and Robredo are both members of the Liberal Party.

Former Vice President Jejomar Binay also mourned the death of PNoy.

“Noynoy and I may have had political differences during the last few years of his term, but that will not diminish the many years of friendship between our families,” Binay said.

“My deepest condolences to the family. Godspeed, Pareng Noy,” Binay said.

Malacañang extends condolences to family of Noynoy Aquino

Malacañang expressed condolences to the family of the late former President Benigno Noynoy Aquino III, who died on Thursday morning.

“A moment of silence and prayer for former President Benigno Aquino III. We condole with the family of the former President over his untimely demise,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.

“We are grateful for his contribution and services to the country. We ask the people to offer a prayer for the eternal repose of the soul of former Chief Executive. Rest in peace, Mr. President,” Roque added.

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana recognized Noynoy Aquino’s contribution in strengthening the defense and security capabilities of the Philippines during hir term.

“As Commander-in-Chief, he recognized the importance of equipping our military to better respond to the evolving domestic and regional security challenges,” he said in a statement.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the Aquino clan during this difficult time,” he added.
