Vice President Leni Robredo recalled the happy and sad memories of the friendship of her late husband, former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, and former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III or PNoy.
According to Robredo, she was most moved by the kindness shown by Aquino when her husband Jesse, former secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, died in a plane crash in 2012.
PNoy allegedly flew immediately to Masbate for a search and rescue operation on Jesse and his plane companions.
“Siya mismo magsu-supervise sa entire operations. Iyon ‘yong hindi ko inasahan… Pumunta siya doon na wala siyang dalang gamit. Ang sabi nila ‘yong bag daw ni PNoy parating may extra shirt, pero other than the extra shirt, wala raw siyang ibang damit,” said Robredo.
PNoy also went to Naga City to help the Robredo family.
“Hanggang nalibing iyong asawa ko, ano talaga, laging iyong concern niya kami noong mga bata,” said Robredo.
According to Robredo, PNoy brought Jesse’s remains home to them in Naga and even accompanied her when she saw her husband for the last time.
In another Facebook post, the vice president also recalled the award given to Jesse in Malacañang.

Robredo will never forget that her shoes were damaged and that the Presidential Security Group and Aquino’s social secretary helped her repair the shoes and replace them.
It is said that these were the shoes she used when she went to Aquino at Heritage Park.
According to Robredo, the former president did not fail to take care of their family.
Leni is also said to be impressed with the former president because she saw his diligence at work.
She also said she regretted not informing the majority of PNoy’s achievements for the country.
“Dahil personal na kaibigan, ang dami talagang regrets. Ang daming regrets na sana pinaalam natin na mas maayos kung gaano natin ina-appreciate iyong mga ginawa niya,” said Leni.
