Vaccinated APORs get free rides on MRT-3, LRT-2, PNR from Aug. 3-20, 2021

Transportation Secretary Arthur announced the free-ride program for vaccinated APORs authorized persons outside of residence on Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2), and Philippine National Railways (PNR) starting on August 3 to 20, 2021.

In a statement on Monday, Tugade said APORs only need to show their vaccination cards to prove that they have been vaccinated, even if it is only the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, the secretary also said that the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) would provide free coffee, water, and snacks to vaccinated APORs and passengers waiting for their trips to airports and ports.

Tugade also urged the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to postpone the collection of terminal fees on buses starting Monday, August 2.

“Ang inisyatibong ito ay napagkasunduan ng buong Kagawaran ng Transportasyon upang makatulong sa pagpapanatili ng kalusugan at kaligtasan ng ating mga kababayan, at upang matulungan ang gobyerno na mahikayat ang ating mga kababayan na magpabakuna,” the secretary said.

Metro Manila will be subjected to stricter enhanced community quarantine classification from August 6 to 20 due to the threat of the more contagious Delta coronavirus variant.

 announced Monday that low-income families in Metro Manila would get P1,000 to P4,000 cash  once the enhanced community  (ECQ) begins on August 6.

“Walang ECQ kung walang ayuda,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.

“Sigurado may ibibigay na P1,000 per person and maximum of P4,000 per family. Hindi pa lang sigurado saan kukunin,” he added.

(P1,000 per person and a maximum of P4,000 per family will surely be given [to qualified beneficiaries]. We just don’t know yet where the funds will be sourced from.)

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) also assured that they have assistance for workers who will be affected by the enhanced community  () in Metro Manila.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said they are ready to implement the 2-week ECQ because they still have aid funds left for informal and formal workers.

This includes the COVID-19 adjustment measures program (CAMP) for formal workers with one-time assistance of P5,000 for them.
