After a complaint filed by the US Embassy in Manila, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group agents in Manila arrested four people involved in the production of fake peso and dollar bills on Recto Avenue in Santa Cruz District of the city.
An entrapment scheme on Wednesday resulted in the arrest of BM Hinguillo, Leonora Boyles, Markjhon Payas, and John Ryan De Guzman. The men are now detained at CIDG Manila office.
Police Senior Inspector Wilfredo V. Sy, CIDG Manila chief, said the complaint was filed by the US embassy last October 6 after receiving a fake 1,000 peso bill from a visa applicant in September.
The US embassy wrote to the CIDG requesting for an investigation into the matter.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas released a certification that the 1,000 peso bill s were fake on September 7.
