UP-law professor Ryan Oliva missing

Lawyer Ryan Oliva, a law professor at the University of the Philippines and an officer of the Department of Tourism, has been missing since Saturday evening, his family said.

Oliva’s family is calling for any information on his whereabouts. He was last seen leaving their house in Commonwealth, Quezon City, last November 21.

His brother, Randy, said leads may be sent to +63  906 300 1009.

Oliva is a professor at the UP College of Law, teaching legal history and the law on agency and partnership.

Ryan Oliva is working at the Legislative Liaison Unit (LLU) of DOT as per the agency’s website.
According to his profile at UP Law, Oliva obtained his B.A. in Journalism (2006) and J.D. (2011) from the University of the Philippines. He was a recipient of the UP Law Dean’s Medals for academic excellence and leadership and was cited by the UP Office of Legal Aid as one of its outstanding law interns.
Before joining the law faculty, Ryan Oliva was associated with Castillo, Laman, Tan, Pantaleon, and San Jose Law Firm, where his practice focused on arbitration, commercial and securities litigation, family, labor, and criminal law.

Ryan is the youngest consultant of Belo Gozon Elma Parel Asuncion & Lucila (BGEPAL) Law Offices, a venerable Philippine law firm.

He was previously associated with Castillo Laman Tan Pantaleon & San Jose, one of the country’s top law firms. Before becoming a lawyer, Ryan Oliva worked in Starcom MediaVest Philippines, a media agency, as a media planner/buyer trainee, and in the Philippine Congress as a Political Affairs Officer III of a Party-List Representative.

Earlier, another lawyer Joey Luis Wee was shot dead by two unidentified men while walking to his office in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.
According to the police, Joey Luis Wee, 51, sustained two bullet wounds in his body. He was rushed to a local hospital but died while being treated, said Police Maj. Dindo Juanito Alaras, chief of the Mabolo police station here.
Last week, Lawyer Eric Jay Magcamit was shot dead in the southern Palawan town of Narra on Tuesday morning.
