U-turn slot at Dario bridge at EDSA reopened

The Dario Bridge in EDSA, Quezon City, has reopened for motorists.

Its opening was slightly delayed because the signages stating that it was open were not immediately installed.

According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, an estimated 500 vehicles per hour will benefit from this.

It first closed in 2020 to make way for the EDSA Bus Carousel.

According to MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos, there is not always a bus, and the study also found that opening the u-turn slot will help smooth traffic flow.

He also said that the elevated bus ramp project in EDSA would be delayed because a lot of money will be needed for it.

“Sa totoo lang, nangako ako noong araw na gagawa tayo ng elevated bus ramp para mas maganda sana pero aaminin ko sa mga nanonood ngayon, nung pina-compute po namin ang isa, gagastos tayo ng P200 milyon, ang isang intersection ay P400 milyon,” said Abalos.

According to Abalos, the real cause of the heavy traffic is the construction of the MRT common station.

He said they are also in contact with the private contractor of the common station to remove their fences when motorists have more lanes.

The number of vehicles passing through EDSA per day had reached 382,000, down from 402,000 before the pandemic struck.

The MMDA also plans to make the EDSA-Balintawak section to Monumento five lanes from the current three lanes to reduce frequent traffic here.
