DAVAO CITY, Philippines – (Press Release) – Welcome Everyone!  As you know, there are many retired and prior military service veterans in the Davao City area.  A Davao group is now organizing an American Legion Post to serve their social and service needs.

Post members will develop a wide range of social and service activities from afternoon get-togethers to dances, dinners and community service projects including working with youth, sponsoring educational activities and contests and other community projects.

Other active American Legion posts in the Philippines and one in Okinawa, Japan are shown at the bottom of this letter.

Former or active duty members of U.S. Military and Coast Guard who have served “during a time of war” such as WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama and Gulf eras are eligible and warmly invited for Membership – whether or not they served in combat areas.

Many Social Activities will also be open to and welcome former Service Members of U.S. Allies such Australia, Canada, Euro Countries, New Zealand, Philippines, UK and others. More Later.

Post Membership Development Committee

The Post Membership Development Committee currently consists of Scott Rosen, Scott Cameron and Stacey Baird.  They are meeting with prospective members and accepting the short form American Legion Membership Applications attached below. They are the initial administrators for the post while growing its Membership base. If you know of former U.S. Service Members who may not be reached by this emailing, please also let them know about us and post on other websites.

Please contact the following for additional information including planned development of a Ladies Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion activities which are such a great addition to any post. DD-214s are not immediately needed. Legionnaire Transferees from distant posts are welcome.

Development Committee Background

Scott Rosen has lived in Davao City with his wife and family for more than one year. Scott, a former resident of Olongapo City, Subic Bay for more than 14 years served the Admiral Arthur F. Spring American Legion Post 4 as its VA Claims Service Officer.  Scott served in U.S. Air Force at Information and Communications duty stations at Uxbridge, UK and Clark Air Force, Philippines for

David “Scott” Cameron, U.S. Army serve as a MACV advisor in Vietnam where he was wounded in action. He is currently a resident of Blk 18, Lots 40/41 Camella Homes, General Santos City where he lives there with his wife and family.  He is active as volunteer for US Veterans Advisory Committee to the US Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic in Manila. Stacey Baird, Served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne in 1970 where he was wounded in action. Resident of Davao since 2001, he lives 35 Vermillion Street, Spring Village, Ma-a with his wife of 24 years and their two adult children.  Stacey is Life Member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 76.   Stacey served for two years as Purok Leader in Spring Village and is active in Environment Advocacy Groups including Save Davao Shrine Hill.
