Typhoon Dante left damages in Luzon, Visayas

Typhoon Dante left severe damage in Central Luzon, Southern Tagalog, and Eastern Visayas.

Strong winds and torrential rains were felt in Bataan during the passage of typhoon Dante.

Tree branches fell, and there was also a power outage.

In the morning, the displaced families were also sent to the towns of Orion and Mariveles.

Their house in Matabungkay in Lian, Batangas was also destroyed. This includes Nasie Ordona’s house.

“Kaliliitan pa ho mga anak ko, wala naman po kami mapupuntahan, isang kahig, isang tuka lang po kami, sana matulungan niyo po kami,” said Ordona.

According to barangay captain Ernie Cabahog, about 20 houses were destroyed. The rafts that are the source of livelihood of the residents have also been damaged especially now that tourism has reopened in Lian town.

“‘Yun po ang source of income ng mga kabarangay ko so pag nasira po ‘yan at hindi po agad naipagawa wala po silang ibang pagkukunan,” said Cabahog.

Ships and tugboats with tow barges ran aground in Balayan, Batangas due to strong currents.

“There are tugboats na pupunta para to assist, para ma-salvage doon sa kaniyang pagkakasadsad. Hindi na natin masabi na may threat sa shoreline,” said Batangas Coast Guard Commander Capt. Geronimo Tuvilla.

Three boats were also damaged, and others sank in Barangay Palikpikan when the tugboat also hit them.

“Natatakot din po ang aming mga mangingisda dahil halos sila nga po ay sumasalpok diyan,” said Barangay Chairman Tessie Lopez.
