So far, at least 10 people are known to have died in an explosion inside the Parañaque City Jail compound on Thursday night.
Out of the 10 known casualties, at least two of them are foreigners.
Officials said that the two confirmed foreigners were Chinese inmates – both were declared dead on arrival after being rushed to the Ospital ng Parañaque.
The other eight known casualties are still inside the jail.
Parañaque City police said the explosion happened at around 8.30pm inside the office of the jail warden Supt. Gerald Bantag.
Several locals believe that the bombing may have been an attempt to free several local high-profile drug pushers who have been arrested in recent round-ups.
Those same locals also said that the explosions numbered at least three in all, possibly more, cementing the idea that it may have been a planned attack.
Supt. Gerald Bantag was one of the numerous hurt in the attack, sustaining shrapnel wounds.
