Trillanes still pushing Leni Robredo to run for president

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV announced that he will continue to push for Vice President Leni Robredo to be the opposition’s presidential candidate in Election 2022.

However, if Robredo still does not decide whether to run for president by noon on October 8, Trillanes said he would run for president of the country as the “real” opposition.

“Tuloy ang pagtulak natin kay VP Leni to run for president. Kung tumuloy siya, ipanalo natin siya. Pero kung ‘di pa rin siya makapagdesisyon by 12 nn of October 8, tuloy na po ako ng pagka-presidente,” Trillanes said in a Facebook on Sunday.

(We continue to push VP Leni to run for president. If she continues, let’s make her win. But if she still can’t make a decision by 12 nn of October 8, I will continue as president.)

October 8 is the last day to file the certificate of candidacy of the candidates in the May 2022 elections.

“‘Di po natin hahayaang matalo ang TUNAY na OPOSISYON ng ‘di man lang lumaban,” the former senator said.

(We will not allow the REAL OPPOSITION to be defeated by not even fighting.)

Trillanes still pushing Leni Robredo to run for president

Earlier, Robredo said she continues to hope that the opposition will unite and she will make a decision before October 8.

In her radio program recently, Robredo said that she is ready in case she is chosen to be the “unity candidate” of the opposition.

Robredo said she does not want the current administration’s type of governance to continue and the possible return to power of the Marcoses — in case former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. runs for president.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker and eldest son of President Rodrigo Duterte, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, Tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The news was confirmed by his sister Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio this Monday to the media.

“Yes, COVID-19 positive. I’ve not talked to him yet,” said Sara.
No other details have been released so far when it comes to Paolo’s condition, also known by the nickname “Pulong.”
