Trillanes dares Malacañang to let Robredo lead IATF

Opposition and former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV dared the government to appoint Vice President Leni Robredo as the chair of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

“If Malacañang really wants to flatten the curve, then it should appoint [Robredo] to be the IATF chair,” Trillanes said in a statement Friday.

The former senator also lambasted presidential spokesperson Harry Roque for saying Robredo should give solutions instead of criticizing the government over its coronavirus response.

Roque said in an interview ANC on Wednesday: “I just wish the vice president could actually offer solutions.”

“Is Roque blind or pretending to be blind on the help extended and being extended to our countrymen by the vice president in the face of this pandemic?” Trillanes answered.

“Kung ang amo ni Roque na si Duterte ay patulog-tulog, si [Robredo] ay halos wala nang pahinga sa paghahanap ng paraan kung panno makatutulong sa mga Pilipino,” he added.

Roque in statement meanwhile responded to Trillanes.

“We find it really unfortunate that Mr. Antonio Trillanes IV is sowing intrigue and division during this challenging time of COVID-19,” he said.

“We call on Mr. Trillanes not to twist my statement for the sake of political relevance and just do his share to alleviate the plight of our people amid this pandemic. It is only through our solidarity and cooperation can we heal and recover as one,” Roque added.
