Trillanes charged with kidnapping with serious illegal detention, Friday, August 30.

The former Senator Antonio Trillanes and three others now face kidnapping and illegal detention case filed by the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). Trillanes allegedly forced a woman to make false accusations against President Rodrigo Duterte.

The woman was identified to be Guillermina Barrido alias Guillermina Arcillas, a businesswoman based in Davao. In the copy of her complaint dated August 15, Arcillas said that she was detained in two convents and was forced to sign a “ready-made affidavit.” The affidavit contains information linking Duterte to a death squad, corruption, and drugs.

The affidavit also involved Duterte’s known critic, lawyer Jude Sabio, who made communication in the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Duterte’s war on drugs and Fr. Albert Alejo who also accused Duterte of being involved with drugs.

Barrido said that she was detained at the Convent of Canussian Sisters located in Makati City. The incident happened on Dec. 6 to 9, 2016. She further added that Alejo, Sabio, and a certain “Sister Ling” moved her to the Holy Spirit Convent in Quezon City, until Dec. 21.

She claimed that Trillanes told her she could not leave until she signed the “ready-made affidavit” against Duterte.

Trillanes charged with kidnapping, but ex-senator denies accusations

In a statement, Trillanes denied Barrido’s allegations and insisted he does know her.

“San ka makakita na pari at madre daw ang kasama ko sa pagkidnap at sa kumbento pa daw sya dinetain. Bukod pa dyan, 2016 pa raw sya kinidnap pero ngayon lang nagfile ng kaso.” (Where would you see that a I am with a priest and a nun is with me to kidnap and we detained her in a cumbent. Aside from that, she said she was kidnapped in 2016, but she only filed a case now.) he added.

Trillanes is one of the most famous oppositions of Duterte administration. He was arrested last year for revived charges of rebellion that were dropped in a 2011 amnesty but was released after posting bail.
