Tourist killed by drug addict in Batangas beach resort

A drug addict shot and killed a male 35-year-old local tourist inside a resort in Nasugbu, Batangas, on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect has a previous murder case against him and was high on drugs when he committed the crime.

Nasugbu chief of police Major Ronald Cayago identified the victim as Junnel Mar Alano, a resident of Taguig City.

Authorities arrested the suspect Dennis Esmeralda, 31 years old, a businessman, and lives in Biñan City, Laguna.

According to the reports, Alano was resting beside the sea in Munting Buhangin Beach Camp in Brgy. Natipuan, when the suspect approached and shot him. Alano died on the spot because of gunshot wounds on his body.

Esmeralda was immediately arrested with the help of Terrazas de Punta Fuego lifeguards, maintenance crews and security guards.

In the investigation, Esmeralda’s girlfriend said he was high on drugs and had not slept for three days.

According to the girlfriend, she and the drug addict suspect were resting inside their room when Esmeralda suddenly went outside for unknown reason and shot the tourist.

According to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) records, Esmeralda has a pending warrant of arrest in a murder case at RTC Branch 256 in Muntinlupa City.
