‘Tiny bubbles’ in Metro Manila remain under MECQ

The “tiny bubbles” policy will remain in the National Capital Region amid the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine in the region, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

Under the policy, individuals will still not be allowed to buy basic commodities outside their cities or towns.

However, individuals who will work or have a medical appointment or emergency service at the hospital will be allowed to cross to other cities.

“Nadagdagan ang mga worker APOR (Authorized Persons Outside Residence) na papasok sa kanilang trabaho. Subalit sa mga consumer APOR na bibili o mag-aavail nito, pareho pa rin po,” said PNP Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar.

He also said that there was no change in the PNP’s border checkpoints during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

The quarantine status in Metro Manila has been lowered since Saturday by MECQ in the face of the continuing increase in COVID-19 cases.

As the number of retail stores allowed to operate under MECQ has increased, malls in Metro Manila have adjusted their operating hours:

  • SM and Robinsons Mall-10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Megaworld Lifestyle, Araneta City, Fisher Mall-10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Takeout and delivery will still be allowed in restaurants while gyms and fitness studios remain closed. In addition, personal care services such as salons and spas are still prohibited.

Religious gatherings in churches under MECQ are still not allowed.

Meanwhile, quarantine passes will no longer be required in Metro Manila with the start of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ), according to the Metro Manila Council (MMC).

Apart from Metro Manila, the province of Laguna will also be included in the  At the same time, it will start in the province of Bataan on Monday as COVID-19 infections increase again.
