Members of the Cebu Criminal Investigation and Detection Group rescued a three-month-old baby girl after abductors took her to sell on the black market in the region.

The mother of the baby filed a formal complaint saying her daughter was abducted by Carizon near the South Bus Terminal in Cebu City on Old Soul’s Day.

A cigarette vendor also signed an affidavit supporting the kidnapping of the young baby girl.

Police say they performed background checks on several persons of interest when they discovered the two suspects and their whereabouts.

During questioning, Carizon confessed that she kidnapped the baby and was planning to sell her to an interested buyer to raise money for the treatment of her sick daughter. However, police found several witnesses who told officials that Carizon’s baby was already dead.

The kidnapped baby was officially released to the Philippine National Police Regional Health Service where she was found to be in good condition – the baby is currently being held by social welfare officers.

The two suspects in the kidnapping are now facing formal charges and are being held at a local CIDG jail.
