Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) offers COVID-19 management courses such as Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures in the Workplace.
According to TESDA Deputy Director-General Lina Sarmiento, all the courses they offer are applicable at home, especially those related to COVID-19 management.
“How to protect others from being infected if you are infected. How to prevent yourself from being infected also if you come into a close contact with a COVID positive patient. So malaki ang maitulong nito para sa kaalaman ng ating mga kababayan kasi minsan nagiging kampante tayo,” said Sarmiento.
It is also essential to know how to protect oneself and other people, especially since the latest variant of COVID-19, the omicron, is spreading fast.
TESDA also has a course on online teaching and learning, proper wearing and undressing of PPE, and a contact tracing course.
It teaches the proper way to communicate with COVID-19 positive patients and people who have been exposed to them.
Sarmiento added that the instructors are experts in their field.
“The substance, ano yung mga kailangan matutunan nangggaling yun sa mga experts na pinakiusapan natin. So in this case, lahat ng health related courses natin we rely on the Department of Health experts for us to develop the curriculum,” he said.
TESDA offers free COVID management courses
Apart from the COVID-19 management courses, other courses and training will continue throughout the country, depending on the alert level of the area.
Some courses require actual demonstrations usually held only in open venues and have limited capacity.
It is said that since the pandemic, the most popular course has been baking. It can be turned into a business.
Meanwhile, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) said that higher education institutions (HEIs) in areas under Alert Level 2 might start their limited face-to-face classes for all degree programs provided they are ready.
“HEIs located in areas under Alert Level 2 may start limited face-to-face classes anytime,” said CHED Chairman J. Prospero De Vera III, in CHED COVID-19 Advisory No. 9 dated Jan. 10.
He added that the application to CHED is not a “requirement for the conduct of the limited face-to-face classes.”
