According to the victim’s sister, the teacher was coming out of the toilet when she was bitten by a snake in the cabinet.

“Nag-CR lang siya. Paglabas niya ng CR mayroon na katabi. Ngayon hinawi niya ang kurtina, yung kamay niya na pinaghawi niya ng kurtina, doon siya natuklaw ng ahas,” said Michelle Donato.

The victim was immediately taken to the hospital but the did not have anti-venom so the teacher passed away three hours later.

The hospital has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.

The Philippine cobra (Naja philippinensis) also called northern Philippine cobra, is a stocky, highly venomous species of spitting cobra native to the northern regions of the Philippines. The Philippine cobra is called ulupong in Tagalog, carasaen in Ilocano, and agwáson or banákon in Cebuano.

The Philippine cobra’s habitat include low-lying plains and forested regions, along with open fields, grasslands, dense jungle, agricultural fields, and human settlements. This species of cobra is particularly fond of water, so it can be found very close to ponds, rivers, or large puddles of water.
