Manila taxi driver attempted to rob woman by spraying her with sedative

Police have arrested a Manila taxi driver after he robbed a female Korean passenger in Valenzuela City.

A patrolling police officer noticed a commotion in the cab and arrested 37-year-old Jerick Ore, who attempted to spray his passenger with an unknown chemical that made her dizzy.

The passenger was Seo Jae Hyung, a student staying at Crown Plaza Bldg. in Ortigas, Pasig City. The taxi driver attempted to rob the woman of her iPhone and ATM cards.

Hyung flagged down the taxi in Malate, Manila at about 6am when she asked the driver to take her to Valenzuela City.

The student fell asleep in the vehicle and awoke to find her phone and cards missing, prompting her to confront the driver.

It was this confrontation that caught the attention of the police officer. After an inspection of the vehicle the iPhone was found between the driver and passenger’s seat and the ATM cards were discovered in the sun visor of the taxi.

Police have filed theft charges against the driver.
