“Magaan ang kalooban ko na nakita ko siya, ‘yung tumulong sa akin,” said PFC Ganney Ligayan when he saw Erham Awaluddin.

The photo of the Tausug heroes went viral after Awaluddin, and his other colleagues helped Ligayan, who was then injured in the face.

At least 52 people were killed, including 49 soldiers, in the crash of a C-130 transport plane in Sulu on July 4, considered the worst accident of a military aircraft in the country’s history.

Meanwhile, the family has brought home the remains of PFC Carlo Dapanas Jr., one of the victims of the C-130 crash in Sulu, to their house in Barangay Tu-od in Manticao town Misamis Oriental.

Dapanas was interred in the family church and will be buried for only five days and will be immediately buried in accordance with the protocol of the provincial government.

It was painful for the family that they could not see Dapanas for the last time. Unfortunately, it was one of the severely burnt bodies in the July 4 incident, in which 52 died.
