SWS: Around 25 million Filipinos receive 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine

The SWS September 27-30, 2021 National Survey found that 35% of adult Filipinos, or an estimated 25.0 million, received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, consisting of 25% (est. 17.7 million) already done with their second dose and 10% (est. 7.3 million) done with their first dose.

This is an estimated 42.7 million doses of vaccines administered (computed by adding the 35.4 million doses used on the estimated 17.7 million adults who already received their second dose and 7.3 million doses used on adults who already received their first dose) at the time of the survey.

These survey estimates are comparable to the Department of Health’s (DOH) tally of 44.7 million doses administered as of September 28, 2021 (“DOH COVID-19 Vaccine Communications Weekly Bulletin – September 30, 2021” www.philippinemedicalassociation.org).

Vaccinated adults up in all areas from June 2021 to September 2021

The percentage of adults already inoculated with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine was highest in Metro Manila (71%), followed by Balance Luzon (36%), Mindanao (25%), and the Visayas (21%).

Compared to June 2021, the percentage of those who received at least one dose rose in Metro Manila, up by 44 points from 27% (5% done with a second dose, 21% done with a first dose, correctly rounded) to 71% (61% done with a second dose, 10% done with a first dose).

It rose in Balance Luzon, up by 28 points from 8% (3% done with a second dose, 5% done with a first dose) to 36% (22% done with a second dose, 13% done with a first dose, correctly rounded).

It rose in the Visayas, up by 14 points from 7% (1% done with a second dose, 5% done with a first dose, correctly rounded) to 21% (15% done with a second dose, 6% done with a first dose).

It also rose in Mindanao, up by 15 points from 6% (3% done with a second dose, 3% done with a first dose) to 25% (16% done with a second dose, 8% done with a first dose, correctly rounded).

Vaccination up in all educational levels; rises with education

The percentage of those vaccinated with at least one dose was highest among college graduates (49%), followed by junior high school graduates (37%), elementary graduates (31%), and non-elementary graduates (23%).

Compared to June 2021, the percentage of those vaccinated with at least one dose rose among college graduates, up by 31 points from 18% (6% done with a second dose, 12% done with a first dose) to 49% (35% done with a second dose, 14% done with a first dose).

It rose among junior high school graduates, up by 27 points from 10% (2% done with a second dose, 8% done with a first dose) to 37% (26% done with a second dose, 11% done with a first dose).

It rose among elementary graduates, up by 24 points from 7% (2% done with a second dose, 5% done with a first dose) to 31% (22% done with a second dose, 9% done with a first dose).

It also rose among non-elementary graduates, up by 19 points 4% (2% done with a second dose, 2% done with a first dose) to 23% (17% done with a second dose, 5% done with a first dose, correctly rounded).
