A police investigation into the incident showed that Hauck asked for permission to go to the toilet – his escorts, both jail officers of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, said that the suspect jumped into the sea at 2.50pm about one mile from Sta. Fe.

Hauck’s body was recovered and taken to Bantayan District Hospital – he was handcuffed when he jumped.

The Swiss man was originally arrested by NBI agents in 2015 after he was accused of molesting five underage boys in a pension house in Sta. Fe.
