A Swedish man has been arrested for beating his girlfriend and then getting into a fight with the Sibonga Police.
37-year-old Peter Felix Widegren from Oslo, Norway, resisted arrest but was apprehended for beating his 29-year-old girlfriend, Clara Amistad.
The reports notes that Widegren and his girlfriend were in a heated fight, arguing with one another near their home in Barangay Poblacion. At the time Widegren was drunk and his girlfriend refused to give him his keys to his motorcycle.
Police arrived on the scene and caught Widegren beating Amistad, leaving them no choice but to intervene – that’s when Widegren challenged the police to a fistfight. The police managed to calm him down and brought him to the police station.
Widegren was taken to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City and underwent alcohol testing before being detained at the station – the Swede will be left out of jail today if his girlfriend and neighbors decide not to file charges against him.
Out of humanitarian consideration, the police will not be filing charges against the foreigner as he became highly remorseful after sobering up while being held in his cell.
