The Land Transportation Office of the Philippines has announced it will begin to use breath analysers starting from March 12 on suspected drunk drivers.
Commercial drivers can only carry a 0.01% breath alcohol level and non-professional drivers 0.05%.

Professional drivers who are caught under the new law will immediately have their licences revoked for one year.
The breath analysers will be used once a driver fails a field sobriety test. Under Republic Act #10586 drivers who injure others while driving drunk must pay a fine of 20,000 pesos to 80,000 pesos and face imprisonment for three months.
