Essential workers in high-risk areas will be given priority in vaccinating the A4 group

The Department of Health (DOH) announced Wednesday that it would prioritize vaccination against COVID-19 in the A4 group from high-risk areas or areas with high COVID-19 cases.

The A4 group includes essential workers and uniformed personnel.

According to Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje, due to the limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine, vaccination in the A4 group will be given priority in areas such as Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Metro Davao, and Metro Cebu.

“Iko-concentrate natin sa tinatawag na geographic area, kung saan nandun ang surge ng cases,” said Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez had earlier said that the A4 vaccination would begin in June or when the vaccine supply increased.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) admitted that at present, the priority list and system for vaccination in the workers’ sector are still being adjusted.

The Federation of Free Workers once again called for the vaccine to be kept accessible and free to all workers.

The medical expert also reminded that it is also up to local governments to properly schedule when it comes to vaccinating those in A4 and A5 to prevent the spread of the virus.

Currently, those in A1 to A3 or health workers, senior citizens, or those with comorbidities are the first to be vaccinated by the government against COVID-19.
