Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte announced that authorities have arrested a suspect in the September 21 kidnapping of three foreigners and one Filipino woman from Oceanview Marina on the island of Samal.
The mayor gave the announcement after his speech on the 131 anniversary of Davao City on Monday.
The suspect was identified as Pandajar Adona, also known as “Banon”.
Sources say that at least one other accomplice is part of a known home where the kidnappers hung out for three days before carrying out the abduction.
Durete, a chairman of the Southern Mindanao Peace and Order Council, said the information was handed to him at a recent briefing conducted by military officials.
Police, military and other authorities close to the investigation are tight-lipped about the ongoing progress of the case.
In the past few days, very little information has been brought to the media as to the demands or contact made by the kidnappers.
