Student raped, drugged by Taiwanese national

The Manila Police District-Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (SMaRT) officers arrested a 55-year-old Taiwanese national who allegedly drugged and raped a teenage student at a condominium in Malate, Manila, yesterday dawn.

Police identified the Taiwanese suspect, Wei Tang Yao, who was living in a condominium in San Andres, Malate, Maynila. Authorities did not disclose the victim’s name, who was only 16 years old and a student in Sta. Ana, Manila.

Wei Tang Yao was scheduled to undergo inquest proceedings for the Republic Act 8353 o Anti-Rape Law of 1997 concerning RA 7610 and Child Abuse Law at RA 9165 o comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 violation charges.

According to the from the office of SmaRT chief, P/Major Rosalino Ibay Jr., the victim asked for help using a cellphone after the Taiwanese national forced her to use shabu before raping her inside the condo unit.

When the victim met the suspect, he allegedly invited her to eat at first. Then the suspect asked her to join him in his condo unit where the rape and drugging occurred.

When the student victim came to her senses, she locked herself to the bathroom, where she was able to send a message to her police neighbor and asked for help.

The police responded and raided the Taiwanese national condo where they rescued the victim and seized four sachets of shabu, scales, improvised water pipes, and disposable lighters.
