A ninth grade student of Candoni National High School was arrested by police in a follow-up operation after he was accused of killing his next door neighbour on Monday.
Police said 18-year-old Carlo Galan killed 60-year-old Rodelo Pagdatu by striking him with a piece of hard wood.
Pagdatu was riding his motorcycle when Galan struck him with the wood – the victim tried to escape, but Galan chased him down and continued to strike him until he was dead.
Pagdatu originally confronted Galan days earlier and accused him of stealing his prized fighting cocks – police believe to cover up the crime, Galan then killed Pagdatu.
Police say they have recovered the hard wood piece used by the suspect – he is currently detained at a local police station facing a murder charge.
