Stray bullet kills a woman in Manila

A 28-year-old woman with two young children was killed by a stray bullet in a fight between a sex worker and her client in Tondo, Manila.

According to a report by Jun Veneracion on GMA News “24 Oras” on Tuesday, it was said that the victim, Sheena Tiongson, was on her way home with her husband Jerico when she was suddenly hit by a stray bullet.

“Ilang pangarap ‘yung kinuha niya, ilang pangarap ‘yung… pangarap nga rin ng asawa ko mag-abroad para sa anak namin,” said Jerico.

Tiongson’s mother also could not hold back her tears on her daughter’s sudden death.

“Panagutan niya itong ginawa niya sa anak ko. Nagbarilan sila. Bakit hindi na lang sila, dinamay pa ‘yung anak ko,” said Aling Saturnina Casidsid.

CCTV footage shows a woman and a man blocked the rider of a motorcycle and his companion at Claro M. Recto Avenue in Manila on Sunday night.

Later, it can be seen that people suddenly ran away because the man on the motorcycle who was blocked was already firing a gun.

“Makikita rin sa CCTV na kinuyog itong suspek at napilitang bumunot ng baril,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Carlo Manuel, spokesperson of Manila Police District.

According to the police investigation, the woman and the man who blocked and fought with the suspect were live-in partners.

The woman was allegedly a sex worker in the area and the suspect was her customer.

“Magkalipas ang ilang minuto parang nagkaroon sila ng hindi pagkakaunawaan, bumaba itong babae,” said Manuel.

The woman complained to her live-in partner so they blocked the suspect who was armed.

“Binuhusan ng kape sa mukha at sinapak. Hindi niya ho alam may baril yung lalaki,” a witness said.

(He poured coffee on his face and punched him. He did not know the man had a gun.)

The woman’s live-in partner and two others were also injured in the shooting.

The MPD is already studying CCTV footage to find out the identity of the suspect and his male companion.
