Davao City hosted the Southeast Asian Games in 2005. The 2019 games will be a partnership via the private sector as well as the Philippine government.

Officials have said that the sports facility being constructed by the University of the Philippines, located on the outskirts of Davao City, and the proposed sports center at the University of Mindanao campus will be the perfect venues to host the SEAG games.

The facilities from the 2015 Palarong Pambansa venue in Tagum City, Davao del Norte are also being looked as an additional venue as part of the agreement.
