The Philippine Sports Commission has requested a letter of guarantee from the Office of the President as an assurance for bringing the Southeast Asian Games to Davao City in 2019.
Officials have said they are prepared to leave for Kuala Lumpur Tuesday to hand over the letter of guarantee after a brief meeting with SEAG Federation.
Davao City hosted the Southeast Asian Games in 2005. The 2019 games will be a partnership via the private sector as well as the Philippine government.
Officials have said that the sports facility being constructed by the University of the Philippines, located on the outskirts of Davao City, and the proposed sports center at the University of Mindanao campus will be the perfect venues to host the SEAG games.
The facilities from the 2015 Palarong Pambansa venue in Tagum City, Davao del Norte are also being looked as an additional venue as part of the agreement.
The Southeast Asian Games is an event that includes a total of eleven nations – Davao City has not only hosted the games prior, but also believe they are more prepared than ever to bring the city and Mindanao into the spotlight.
