South Korean President Moon Jae-in impressed with Philippines’ growth rate

South Korean President Moon Jae-in said he admires the Philippines for the country’s impressive growth rate.

Moon made the statement at a bilateral meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte in South Korea.

President Moon said the Philippines’ economic growth is impressive.

Moon said the six percent annual average the economic growth rate reached is outstanding.

He also said the Philippines could be the ASEAN’s future.

“The Philippines is the future of ASEAN as it continues to achieve an impressive growth rate six percent each year,” Moon said.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in also said Koreans love the Philippines.

“The Korean people love the Philippines. Koreans are the number one visitors to the Philippines,” Moon said to Duterte.

President Duterte pledged that the Philippines would continue to strive to advance the common cause in Korea and promote peace and stability in the region.

“I assure you that the Philippines will continue to find common cause and purpose with the Republic of Korea towards enhancing our bilateral engagement and promoting peace and stability in your region,” Duterte said.

Duterte is in South Korea for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – Republic of Korea (ASEAN-ROK) Commemorative Summit.

It is titled “Partnership for Peace, Prosperity for People.”

When the president arrives in Busan, South Korea, he was immediately greeted by the Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (ROK) Noah Wong, Chief of Presidential Protocol and Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs Robert Eric Borje, Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-man and others.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the Philippines and South Korea inked five agreements that covered tourism, education, fisheries, agriculture, and social security concerns.
