Sleeping burglar didn’t wake up until police arrived and arrested him

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after he was caught sleeping in the living room of a house he allegedly burgled in Quezon City.

Encarnacion Magsino, aged 91, and Luichi Loisa, 30, returning from a two-week vacation in the provinces, found the doorknob of their front door broken and saw suspect Ricky Vargas sleeping on their couch.

The suspect did not notice the two and they were able to sneak away and seek the assistance of police officers.

When they returned, the police officers and the two complainants saw the suspect still sleeping on the couch. The lawmen woke up Vargas, who was holding on to a 20,000 peso travelling bag. They also found a folding knife in his pocket.

The complainants said they lost a million pesos worth of jewellery.

Vargas, who is being held at the Quezon City Police District Station 10, was charged with burglary and violating City Ordinance 5121, which also penalises the possession of bladed weapons.
