At least 63 Chinese and Taiwanese blackmailers have been arrested in a series of raids in Cebu City this week.

The group consisted mostly of Taiwanese and Chinese people engaged in cyber-hacking plots targeting their own countries.

Taiwanese Police coordinated with the Philippines after victims came forward complaining about the attacks. These were traced to Cebu City.

After a month-long surveillance operation, local police secured search warrants for three locations. The raid was also coordinated with the Bureau of Immigration.

Other raids are ongoing but authorities say that most likely the other locations are already abandoned when word reached the streets about the three original raids.

Seized during the raids were numerous computers, telephones, modems and smart phones.

The group will face initial violation of Republic Act 8484 (or the Access Devices Regulation Act).
