Singapore launches vaccination-differentiated visitation

The Ministry of Health or MOH of Singapore has issued a vaccination-differentiated visitation approach to prevent COVID-19 transmission in their hospitals and protect vulnerable patients.

Beginning August 19, 2021, the visitor’s visit to their patient will depend on the COVID-19 vaccine status: fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated, and unvaccinated visitors.

According to the agency, fully vaccinated visitors, including those fully recovered COVID-19 infected who possess a valid Pre-Event Test or PET, are no longer required to undergo the pre-visit COVID-19 test. Instead, the visitor only needs to present their proof of vaccination using the HealthHub or TraceTogether app.

Partially vaccinated individuals must show a negative pre-visit COVID-19 test result before they can be admitted to the ward, beginning August 19, 2021.

Meanwhile, unvaccinated visitors will not be allowed to enter hospital wards if no negative COVID-19 test results can be presented by antigen rapid test or ART or by polymerase chain reaction or PCR test within twenty-four hours visit.

A “30 minutes only visitation” applies to all hospitals in Singapore regardless of vaccination status. An individual may only be given a visit of more than 30 minutes on a case-to-case basis and if their patient meets the following criteria:

As of 16 August 2021, 12 pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified 48 cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection and 5 imported cases.

Over the last 28 days, the percentage of unvaccinated who became severely ill or died is 9.8%, while that for the fully vaccinated is 1.2%. Thus, as of 15 August 2021, 76% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 82% have received at least one dose.
