A few weeks after the news about her new love affair, singer Sheryn Regis has already admitted that she is a lesbian.
The so-called “Crystal Voice of Asia” became open about her true identity in the latest vlog by showbiz writer Ogie Diaz.
“Alam ko na sa puso ko [ay] bahagi ako ng LGBTQ. It’s just that I started living with a man when I was 18 years old. ‘Yun ang time na may realization ko na iba ang feeling ko, iba ang nararamdaman ko,” she said.
Sheryn Regis admits, obeying her parents was the reason she wasn’t immediately able to be true to herself then.
“So pumasok ako sa show business na, ‘Ito si Sheryn, may asawa. Ito si Sheryn, babaeng-babae. Dapat malinis, dapat ganito.’ Pero kulang na kulang, hindi ako masaya [noon] dahil naramdaman ko na hindi ako ito. Hindi ako itong Sheryn na pino-project ko. Yes, as a diva I wear gowns. Ganito naman talaga ako, babaeng-babae. Pero ang puso ko iba. Parang mas may gusto ako na hindi ko alam, kulang na kulang,” the singer said.
“Noong nanganak na ako kay Sweetie sabi ko, this is some kind of a reward, a trophy. Pero bakit may kulang pa rin… Naramdaman ko ‘yung essence of a woman to have a child. Yes, ang essence, babae ako. Pero gusto ko pa rin babae. In denial ako that time,” she added.
Sheryn Regis opens up about being a lesbian
According to Sheryn Regis, her husband, Earl Echiverri, was the first to know that she was a lesbian.
And despite her true identity, the singer insisted that she still fulfilled her responsibility as a wife.
Regis also said she admitted to her daughter that she was a lesbian when she was only 11 years old.
According to Regis, Echiverri, her daughter, and her family accept her relationship with Mel de Guia, a YouTuber.
According to the singer, she met de Guia when she ordered food from Mel’s business.
Regis’s showbiz career began in 2003 when she became part of “Star in a Million.”
