Shabu supplier inside PNPA arrested

Authorities arrested the alleged supplier of shabu inside the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Silang, Cavite.

According to PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas, 1st Class John David Macagba, the graduating cadet who tested positive for drug use, has given them the information.

The police arrested a 25-year-old man who works at the mess of the police academy.

“He was turned over to  Silang Municipal Police Station together with recovered drug paraphernalia including used foils with visible traces of white crystalline substance,” said Sinas.

Last week, all the 260 graduating cadets of the PNPA were subjected to drug tests after the mauling incident on New Year’s eve. Macagba and two other police officers, Patrolman Christian Laganzon from the Ligao City Police Station and Giovannie Adulta, a civilian employee of the Tabaco City Police Station, tested positive for drug use.

“I have already ordered a pre-charge and summary dismissal proceedings against Cadet 1st Class John David Macagba and two other PNP personnel who tested positive during the random drug test,” said Sinas.

The PNPA then expanded the drug testing for all of its cadets.

Shabu supplier inside PNPA arrested

According to Brig. Gen. Rhoderick Armamento, PNPA director, 1,065 personnel of the PNP Academy comprising 817 cadets, 44 Police Commissioned Officers, 44 Police Non-Commissioned Officers, 12 Non-Uniformed personnel, and 148 job-order employees and service providers were already subjected to drug tests.

A total of 438 PNP personnel have tested positive for drug use, 382 of whom have been dismissed and terminated from the service since July 2016. Meanwhile, 39 cases are still pending resolution.

PNPA is a public safety school whose graduates are assigned as officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

PNPA was established on August 26, 1977, by the virtue of Section 19, PD 1184, and was tasked to provide tertiary level education to Filipinos aspiring to be officers in the three bureaus of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
