Senior citizen found dead in Bulacan, suspect is 32-year-old live-in partner

Senior citizen Mariza Banda was found dead Monday in her home in Marilao, Bulacan.

According to Leida Hamwee, the victim’s daughter, it was around 5 p.m. on Saturday when the 32-year-old live-in partner Lorenzo Soriano picked up the victim from their home in Meycauayan, Bulacan to return to Marilao.

It was Monday when she received a chat message from her mother asking her to come to their house in Marilao.

Leida said she ignored it because she suspected that the one who messaged her was not her mother.

She also said one of her children received a text message from an unknown number saying that they should go to her mother because there was an emergency.

In the chat message, they were told that the key to the house was beneath the pot outside.

Senior citizen stabbed, found dead in Bulacan

When Leida and her son arrived at the subdivision in Marilao, they asked the guard to help them open her mother’s house. It was there that they found the victim lying on the mattress in the living room, in full make-up, and even wearing shoes.

When Leida held her mother, she knew she was dead because the victim was already cold.

She saw a bump in her mother’s chest, and when she opened the button on her dress, she found two stab wounds on her mother’s chest. Finding the victim, they immediately called the police.

The victim’s family suspected that Soriano killed their mother because he was not home when the victim was found. Soriano was nowhere to be found since the day he picked up the senior citizen victim last Saturday.

The victim and Soriano have been living together for eight years.

This Thursday, they are set to file a murder charge against Soriano.
