Selangor, Malaysia has received a dugue warning from the ministry of health due to a huge surge in cases over the past two weeks.

The number of cases in the region has been posted at well over 3,000 in the past week.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya said“The Health Ministry urges Selangor and its local councils to pay close attention to the rise in dengue cases.

“Local councils must keep a close watch on proper waste management and other related problems which may lead to the increase in dengue cases.”

Ministry deputy health-general Datuk Dr Jeyaindran Sinnadurai said there were up to 2,800 new cases a week. He added that the public had to be proactive in eradicating mosquito breeding grounds around and within their homes.
